Our kitchen 02/23/14

Hi pals, Puff Darby here.

One of my favorite rooms in the house is our kitchen.  It is here where we usually get fed dinner, get various snacks through out the day and just lounge around practicing our "starved" looks.

Last Sunday daddy spent some time applying the grout to the granite tiles on the big kitchen island (it's 8 foot by 4 foot).  He used a non-stain grout so momma wouldn't have to scrub gunk out from the cracks.  Momma really wanted a solid surface but since we live in a rural area she had to settle for granite tiles because most vendors refuse to travel out to where we live.

Anyhow, after the grout was applied, it had to cure for 7 days before the counter could be used.  Momma insisted that the counter top granite be sealed so today the humans spent some doing that.

I don't really understand what all the fuss is about with the island as it isn't my favorite part of the kitchen.

This is my favorite part of the kitchen - BOL, BOL

  1. Crikey ... I'm with you Puffy .... but my Mum thinks the rest of your kitchen is just beautiful. She thinks that island thing is something else. You could cut up a WHOLE deer or maybe even an elk on that. Mum loves all the white. Me ... I like where you've got your head stuck the best.

    1. I'm going to tell you a little secret Charlie - the photo of me looking in the fridge is from our California house right after I was adopted. We don't even own that fridge anymore - BOL, BOL, As to the island, daddy say if we ever get any over night guests we can put the air mattress right on the island and they can sleep in the kitchen. I imagine it would be just fine as if they woke up hungry in the middle of the night they wouldn't have to go too far for a midnight snack.

    1. Of course it's one of your favorite parts because I suspect your fridge has lots of left over Texas BBQ meats.

  3. From MY point of view, the food storage spots are always the best!

    1. We have an IKEA kitchen - you can save a lot of money if you buy them when they go on sale (which we did). Of course them the humans had to haul boxes and boxes of unassembled cabinets from California to New Mexico and then spent several days putting them all together afterwards.

Small kitchens mean less to clean so maybe your momma is smarter than mine...I'm just saying...

    2. You do have a point there...only big problem is, in that teeny space (you can't open the fridge if the oven is open and vice versa), my tootsies get stepped on sometimes, esp if growlmy is in there and pawppy, too...they are even filling it right up, and then don't fit, booo!
Oh well, they have been in this house together for almost 27 years...they just deal with it...sigh...not enough $$ to change it...and if we start moving out walls and junk, a bulldozer might be needed...Its ok really, until there is company, BOL!

    1. Maybe I should come over to your house and inspect the insides of your fridge just to make sure it is stocked appropriately. I can sample the goods and offer advise as to what needs to be done, if anything.

    1. Hi Z-pup! That fridge picture is an old picture. Maybe I should sniff around in the new fridge so momma can get another one.

I hope Toby never got shut in the fridge accidently.
