I'm bored 02/18/14

Hi pals,

Nothing much is going on down our way.  Momma got out the latter and is once again working on fixing some of the cracks that are appearing in the drywall.  Today she had to climb almost all the way to the top of the latter to patch a huge crack in the living room ceiling.  The whole time she was saying nasty things about the "handyman" who did the drywall.  Momma hates climbing on the latter but was tired of seeing the cracks so it had to be done.  I made sure to stay out of her way because I knew she wasn't going to be happy.

Our little community is so small that the downtown area only has a post office, a tiny restaurant (that isn't that good), a middle and high school combination and a little elementary school.

This is our Downtown - if you blink, you will miss it - BOL, BOL
The grocery store/gas station closed and now has a FOR SALE sign attached to it.  This afternoon the humans, Puffy and I went to the new Family Dollar store that just opened last week.  They did a little shopping but didn't buy us anything!!!

We did not have much snow fall this season so now we must worry about the dry vegetation as it becomes a real fire hazard.

Momma told daddy that she is tired of having dogs come to bed with muddy paws and something needs to be done with our courtyard.  Daddy wants to plant grass but momma says that won't eliminate muddy paws during the monsoon season or when the grass is gone during the snowy season.  She wants to do bricks or pavers so we will have something solid to walk on instead of dirt/mud.

So that's it from us today.  Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose and Puff Darby

    1. We have a lot of abandoned buildings. No bars, pizza parlors or ice cream shops. The one restaurant only serves hamburgers and other easy made foods - Nothing real special. We live between Gallup and Grants but neither of those cities are as big as Albuquerque which is two hours from us.

Tomorrow momma will post the latest photo Puffy with muddy paws - HeHeHe

    1. The lawyer who was responsible for bring Family Dollar to our community is also talking about bring a restaurant here too. There have been some attempts at doing pizza but either the recipe wasn't good or folks just didn't want to travel far to get a pizza because they closed down.

Bars would be popular because the Indian reservations do not allow alcohol on them, but the handyman who worked for daddy told him that all that does is encourages the Natives to brew their own Hooch. Lots of people with drinking issues here - it's really very sad.

I would love to have a local vet so we wouldn't have to travel over fifty miles one way to get medical care when needed but many here do not take care of their pets. In fact, most do not allow them into their homes, they have to fend for themselves outside.

  3. Wow... you pups live in small towns...we live in the midst of suburbia...maybe they could use river rocks instead of pavers... that way water could drain through them...

    1. River rocks would be nice but the cost to have them delivered would cost a fortune. Were not sure what we will end up doing. Momma suggested that daddy put a deck out there and the areas where the deck didn't cover use gravel but daddy isn't keen on more projects which is too bad because momma is tired of having dried dirt in her bed. Either way, gravel or pretty river rocks will cost money, require lots of time and energy to install, but something needs to be done to resolve the mud issue.

  4. Crikey Momma ... be careful on that latter ... you can fall off those things real easy! Your downtown looks really beautiful but you're driving on the wrong side of the road. Has your Momma got a death wish or something. Climbing latters ... driving on the wrong side of the road ... what next?????
Finleys idea about river rocks sounds good. They look nice too but a bit hard for us 4 legs to walk on, aye??

    1. Momma HATES climbing on the latter but daddy wasn't doing anything to fix the many cracks in the drywall so if it was to be fixed she had to either do it or mess it up so badly (like she did with the guest bathtub) that daddy would fix it or ignore it just like daddy has been doing. Now the cracks are patched but need sanding, then the texture and paint. It's never ending.

Not driving on the wrong side of the road. You're driving on the wrong side - BOL, BOL

Still not sure what we will do about the courtyard. Maybe momma can convince daddy to drive to Arizona and get some pretty pavers...

  6. Momma please be careful on that ladder!

We live in a small town! Our main street consists of the post office (momma works there sometimes), a grocery store, a car wash and an insurance company. The street isn't even paved! At least your town has a paved main street. Muddy paws are just a fact out here. Mom keeps a small pail by the door, and she washes my paws when I come in.

    1. Yup, our main road is paved but the 8 mile road up to our place isn't. The one car wash, grocery store and gas station closed down recently. There is still another small grocery store that also sells gas up the road but they have been trying to sell the place for ages. I foresee them closing down now that the dollar store is open for business.

Momma has Puffy trained to roll over on his back to show her his feetsies when he comes in. Usually they are muddy. Me, I run quickly up the stairs to the top of the bed and say "My feetsies aren't dirty so leave me alone" BOL.

    1. Daddy said his sister is planning on coming out here so it would be nice to have things fixed BEFORE company arrives. Believe me, momma does NOT like climbing the latter but that's the only way to reach the cracks in the ceiling wall board.
