Crazy weather 04/26/14

Hi Pals, Coco Rose and Puff Darby here...

We had some real crazy weather come through yesterday.  The humans had gone to Albuquerque the day before and it was sunny and warm (78 degrees).  This morning we woke up and it was sunny but suddenly, we got high winds blowing through - you should have seen the trees swaying.  As the winds blew, the sun went away and was replaced by hail and snow.

This is a picture of the area where the tree branches were cleared away.  Momma took this photo right before the humans left for Albuquerque.  Some clouds in the distance but it was nice and warm.  No hint of the storm to come...

Hail is covering the yard...

Puffy and I were told we had to go outside to do our business - neither one of us wanted to go...

The yard is now covered with snow but that didn't stop the freeloaders from showing up for a bite to eat.

Anyhow, we had high winds, hail and snow.  Everything would have been pretty nice because we were home in a nice warm house but around 3PM, we lost all electrical power and that meant we had no heat.  Momma had tried to convince daddy that he should put in a pellet heat source but he didn't think he needed to do that with the furnace.   The good news is that the electricity came back on around 6PM so everything was back to normal.

It's still lightly snowing so we are going to snuggle in bed.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose and Puff Darby

  1. Yep, weird weather.
Uh, a pellet stove needs 'lectricity to run. Yu would need a fireplace or woodstove fur heat with no power.

    1. Daddy has a small generator but didn't bother to get it out - not certain what he is/was waiting for. Thanks for telling us that a pellet stove needs electricity because we didn't know that. We have lots of trees so a wood burning stove might be nice.

  2. You need a gas operated generator and you'll be all set for the electrical outages.
That was we do here. Then your furnace will run, you can cook, listen to the TV and keep all your frozen and fridge stuff from spoiling...Have electric lights too.....Weird weather everywhere.....We have wind & rain and only in 30's today. Pounded on the house all night long. Kisses, mazy

    1. Mazy - it snowed off and on all day today and it looks like it might be letting up. The snow was light and looking out our bedroom window there is no snow on the ground. You can't even tell it snowed.

  3. We got some winds this mornin' and a lil rain... now it's cloudy and kinda sticky hot. We missed the big storms they wuz warnin' us about. But snow! Yikes! It's almost May! I vote with Mazy-- ya needs a backup generator.

  4. Yup, a backup generator is the best thing evfur invented...and we had to use ours this afternoon...someone ran down a power line, oops! but the power went off, and while the crew came by pretty quick, all we had to do was relax and listen to the engine running. It comes on all by itself.

We were rather windy and a bit of rain this morning, but no storms as yet. We may get those later in the week.

What a lot of snow and hail!

Nice bunny, can I chase it?

    1. OMD - was the person hurt? It took three hours for our electricity to be restored. Can't really complain because when the land lines went down it took three days for that to get up again.

We have lots of Cottontail and Jack rabbits here. We started off with one that came by to eat but you know that ole saying about rabbits multiplying - HeHeHe. Feel free to come and chase them as much as you like.

    2. Nobody was hurt as far as we could tell, but I bet they were mighty embarrassed to get the power off for our village, BOL! Only for about one hour, not too bad, and though that crew had their Sunday spoiled, they do get 'oncall' pay...and they only had this one to fix and no others, it wasn't from bad weather.
At least it was light, and not too cold.

    2. Hi Z-pup! We are no longer able to access our account on Dogster nor are we able to use the "Support" option to report the issue. Momma saw on one of the forums last week that the Watch Dog and Techno Dog were only being kept by SAY Media until the end of this month. It wasn't disclosed if they were then loosing their jobs or being absorbed by the new "Partner". And speaking of the new "Partner" for the community pages of Dogster, has anyone heard anything new regarding that?

    3. We cannot access Dogster at all, nor Catster for that matter. Growlmy is having withdrawal symptoms. At 630am it was working, and at 7am - poof - gone. Waaahhhhh.....
There seems to be a lot of discussion on the Facebook site for Dogster/Catster, but since we do not 'do' FB, we can't read them...so no I don't have info to bark at ya with...sorry. At least we have our bloggies and suchlike.
I sure hope things get fixed...but then again, the history of fixing things over there is less than ideal...poor Lori & John:(

  6. Crikey .... and I thought Australia had weird weather. That's crazy. You gotta get one of those generator things. They are GREAT!!!! I LOVE that picture of the bunny in the snow. I'd like to give him a bit of hurry up.

  7. Come on over and chase the rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks...We have lots of them hanging around the house. Daddy was wondering what momma was going to do when the rodent population gets to be "too much" - good question but no answer was given.
