Mei-Ling is home 08/14/14

Hi pals, Puffy and Mei-Ling here...

Momma had written a blog entry on Sunday but somehow after she downloaded the pictures the entry vanished into cyber space and everything was lost.  She got frustrated and didn't attempt to re-do the entry so now we have to play catch up to let everyone know what has been going on.

On Saturday the 9th, momma and daddy got up real early and headed to Arizona to pick up Mei-Ling.  I had to stay at home because momma was going to hold Mei-Ling on the trip home and she didn't want me to be jealous, plus it is really HOT in Arizona so leaving me in the truck for any time was out of the question.  So, I was left in the house for over 12 hours while the humans were off and brought back the little monster.  Okay, she isn't a little monster, just a annoying BABY.

This is the selfie momma took of Mei-Ling on her journey to her forever home.

Here I am meeting Mei-Ling for the very first time.  She wasn't afraid of me or nothing!  In fact, she jumped up on me and wanted to play and barked in my face.  OMD - it's a little Coco reincarnated...

We were doing the polite sniffing but once that was over, she was all over me...

I'm backing away from her...

She made herself right at home with MY stuffies - She didn't even bother to ask if she could play with them, instead, she ran up to the stuffie pile and took what she wanted - this is NOT good!

Momma doesn't know why Mei-Ling looks like she is black and white because she is really brown/gold/white.

Finally, Mei-Ling is settling down for a nap.

Anyhow, Mei-Ling is a LOT like Coco but with more energy.  She hops around like a little bunny and loves to play.  Her personality is very sweet but she has those tiny, but very sharp, little baby teeth and she wants to chew on MY tail and anything else she can put in her mouth.  I have growled at her and even snapped at her to tell her to LEAVE ME ALONE, but she doesn't care.  She has even tried to play with Simba's tail and he did the ole smacky paw maneuver and hit her but all it managed to do was incite her to play with his tail again - BOL.  She does not appear to miss her birth mother, siblings or other humans who were taking care of her.  She hasn't cried or whimpered once as she is too buy pestering me.

She isn't allowed to sleep on the big bed with momma and me because she has peed and pooped on it several times, so she has to sleep on the floor or on one of the three pet beds in the bedroom.  Momma told daddy he could take her for the night and guess what Mei-Ling did...yup, she peed on HIS bed too - BOL, BOL.  Poor momma has been washing the bedding a lot lately - BOL.

Marilynn here - Mei-Ling is a very sweet little puppy who appears to be well socialized.  She isn't afraid of the thunderstorms that have been rolling through, has met Sadie and Hime and terrorized, um, I mean played with them, and took a real liking to Puffy although her energy level is much greater than his is.  I think as she matures Puffy will begin to like her.  I have a feeling that Mei-Ling is going to be very vocal and right in Puffy's face just like Coco was when he did something that Coco didn't like.

It's been years since we have had a puppy and although we have to go though all the training again, I am positive I made a great choice in getting Mei-Ling.  Her hair is thick and luxurious and her coloration is unique.   I'm really glad we didn't wait for an all black female like I originally wanted.  I think if Coco were still here she would have really like Mei-Ling.

    1. Finley, one of the requirements for adoption was that she had to weigh 2 pounds or more, before she would be released for adoption. She was taken to the vet the day before we got her and she weighed 2.12 pounds - BOL. She is a real cutie but OMD - those sharp little teeth - OUCH!!!!

    1. Hobo - Coco would want you to go on with your life and be happy but NOT WITH HER SISTER!!!! Trust me on this, Mei-Ling has very sharp teeth and she knows how to use them. She is even bossier than Coco was. Be glad she is too young for you.

  3. Crikey that made Mum's eyes get all leaky. It's a happy story, Mum! She said they are happy tears. She is just soooooooo very happy for you all. That little cutie sure looks like a lot of fun. S'pose you've got to let her have a play with your stuffies. Better those than your tail or ears or footies or body or .... well anything, aye?? She could have asked first though. I am sure Coco Rose would approve and I bet she's looking down from above with a BIG smile on her face. Be patient, aye, Puffy. She's a baby!!

    1. Charlie, last night when momma was helping me with my BLOG, the Shih Tzu angel print that momma got after Coco passed on was hanging above the French door in our bedroom. I was telling momma what to write and when she was typing about Mei-Ling, the picture flew off the wall and ALMOST hit Mei-Ling. The glass in the picture frame broke but the print was not damage. Poor Mei-Ling got scared and ran under the big bed. Daddy had to sweet talk her out from under the bed while momma cleaned up the glass. Momma is wondering if Coco is displeased....

    1. I'm working on being the best big brother but it is trying at times. She talks back and I have a dreaded feeling that she is going to be more bossy than Coco was - OMD! How can that possibly be????

    1. Mei-Ling's coloration will change during the first year. The breeder said most of her dark coloration will probably go away and she will be blond. It's hard to imagine that right now because she has a lot of dark browns but we shall see. It really doesn't matter what color she is as the most important thing was that she fit into the family well, as she does.

    1. I asked momma to hide my stuffies but she refused saying I had to learn to share. The good news is that I did get a couple of new stuffies so I guess it's alright if she plays with some of the older ones - BOL, BOL.

    1. Mei-Ling has been here one week as of tomorrow and she is doing very well as far as settling in, but not so well on the potty stuff of taking MY stuffies and bothering ME. Momma found if she let Mei-Ling chew on her grooming brush she is content and will usually leave me alone for five minutes or so. We actually got along pretty good today until she started barking and yapping in my face and I had to tell her to GO AWAY!!! Did she listen? NO!!!!!!
