Bobcat alert 01/15/15

Hi pals, Puffy here...

This morning daddy came hurrying over to momma and told her to come with him.  Momma followed daddy and so did Mei-Ling and I, into daddy's bedroom to his sliding glass door.  Daddy opened the door and told momma not to let us out, then pointed to some trees and told momma there was a Bobcat over there.  Momma looked and looked but didn't see anything so she went back inside but daddy came back and again motioned to momma to follow him.  By now, momma was thinking maybe daddy had fallen out of his bed and hit his head and was "seeing things", but no, when daddy pointed again, yup, there was a big bobcat.

Daddy said it came right up to the sliding glass door and was looking inside his bedroom.  Momma went back inside and grabbed her camera but the bobcat has left so she then tried to get photos of it's footprints but the glare of the sun off the snow didn't allow for good pictures.

Now daddy is saying that we won't be allowed outside except for in our courtyard although he admits that a bobcat would have no problems jumping our 6 foot wood fence.

    1. We hadn't seen any of the big cats before this one either but we had seen droppings that had berries in them scattered around our property. We thought the poop might have been coyotes as we have an active pack that run around in our neighborhood, but now momma is thinking maybe the poop belonged to a cat.

    1. Daddy says the humans should only go outside with us in unfenced areas when they carry their long walking sticks in case a big cat is spotted and needs to be scared away. Momma says she is more afraid of the rattlesnakes than the big cats.

    1. This is the first time we have seen a bobcat here. Our neighbor two houses down saw a cougar the week before in her yard. I guess the cats are getting hungry and are looking for food.

    1. At night, we are only allowed to go into the courtyard that has the six foot wooden fence. Momma always turns on the outside light first, sticks her head out to make sure nothing is in there and then lets us outside. We can only stay out there for about five minutes and then we have to come back inside.

We too have the coyotes, cougars and bears, although we haven't see any bears yet because they usually stay in the forest.

  8. OMD! Puffy, you and your pack be very careful! Those Bob Cats can be very dangerous!
If hungry, you little furs are hardly a snack. I'm so glad,my dogartary didn't see this 2 wks. ago. She would have been very very worried about your furmily. I hope the CAT hasn't been back???? We are always watching for the coyotes ...this past week, in evening, Gma and I hear them just east of our bedroom. I'm never ever outside alone.
Stay safe and be very very careful. Hugs and kisses, mazy
