More humming bird photos 06/07/14

Hi pals, Puff Darby here...

Here are some more photos of the humming birds at our bird feeder.

Sorry for the glare from the window but if you look carefully, you can see the tongue sticking out of the hummers mouth.

Getting ready to select a feeding port.  This hummer is so pretty as it's head is a shiny copper color.
This hummer is black and white.
Okay, that's it for hummer pictures.
Tomorrow I have to do my posting acknowledging my Shine award.

  1. WE have MAD LOVE fur HUMMINGBIRDS..... We think Maybe the black and white one is a GIRRRRRL... That is how OURS are... the Boys are BRIGHT and the girrrls are black and White...
You did an amazing job of catchin the LONG tongue!!! BRAVO
Right now we have 5 hummers working on our feeder... Do you know how many YOU have?

    1. Frank and Ernie, the hummers come in groups and flint around and fight a lot so we aren't actually sure how many are visiting. We did have five right around the feeder but that was the only accurate count that we got. There aren't many flowers in New Mexico right now so this feeder is very popular.

Momma stopped feeding the squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits after the rattle snake was found because seeds attack mice and that brings snakes. I should also point out that momma wasn't too crazy about the mice coming into the house either. Now, all we have is the humming bird feeder which has been very entertaining.

It's almost 6:30pm here and there are one or two still stopping by for a sip of nectar.

  2. Those are Great piccies Puff! such purdy lil burds.

  3. Very cool.

    Aroo to you,

  4. Crikey ..... such tiny birds ..... such a lot of nectar!!!!! They must be awful greedy blokes and sheilas. How quick do they get rid of all that????? Mum would spend hours watching them. She's a real bird freak!!

  5. Luv your hummingbirds. We put up a feeder, but we ain't gettin none here.

  6. Great pics! Loved seeing the Rufous Hummer sticking out that looonnnggggg tongue!
