Simba Blue 3/20/2000 to 4/11/18

Hi pals,  Mei-Ling and Jade here,

Early this morning, before the sun woke up, daddy put our kitty brother Simba Blue in a carrier and took him to the vet.  Simba had just turned 18, but has been in kidney failure for well over one year.  He was on prescription medication but that was not a cure, instead, it allowed him to live a little longer.  Momma had been after daddy to let her take Simba back to the vet, but daddy insisted it wasn't time yet, even after Simba had jumped up on daddy's bed and pooped right in the center, then proceeded to clean himself off, like nothing had happened - LOL.  As time went on, Simba hardly ate anything, but spent an enormous energy gulping down water.  Poor Simba walked slowly and slept most of the time.  He wouldn't even run anymore when Jade and I tried to chase him.  Momma and daddy would tell us to leave Simba alone, but we just couldn't help ourselves, and would always invite him to play with us anyways.

As daddy and Simba were heading down our driveway this morning, momma got up and dumped the kitty sand box out, mumbling something about finally being free from cat box duty.  After more than 30 years, with 7 different kitties, that chore was FINISHED!  Momma did tell daddy that he could get another kitty if he wanted to, but that HE, would have to do everything associated with the care, and upkeep of it.  Daddy promptly declined.  Jade and I aren't to sure about how this will work out because we always blamed Simba for any potty accidents that happened in the house.  I'm leaning towards saying Simba is back in ghost form, but not sure how that will go over.

We are going to miss Simba, but he did have a very good life.

                                                    We love you Simba

5/25/17 We are still here

"Hello! Hello!  Mei-Ling and Jade here"

"Wait a minute!  Shouldn't that be Jade and Mei-Ling here?!"

 Arizona Empress Mei-Ling Star

Arizona Empress Yi-Tan Jade

"No, I'm the oldest and I had this blog before you were even born".  "I have "Seniority", whatever that is?"

"Oh, okay"

Mei-Ling snickers and pushes Jade away from the keyboard...

"It's been a super long time since my blog was updated"

"Wait a minute, shouldn't that be "OUR" blog was updated?"

"Sorry, that was an accident.  I guess my mind is thinking about the bully stick momma gave me earlier.   I left it on the living room rug"

"Mei-Ling, I think I hear momma calling me.  I'll be right back"  Jade runs off and Mei-Ling snickers.

"There is no Bully stick.  I don't like them, but Jade loves to chew on them.  I knew she would fall for the Ole Bully stick trick.  Doesn't she know what part of the bull she is sticking in her mouth?  Guess that's a silly question because we are talking about Jade, who likes to eat poop"

"So, as I started to say before Jade interrupted me, welcome to my blog.  Momma has been neglecting updating things here, so I'm going to take it upon myself to let everyone know what's been going on"

"We had an interesting winter this year.  Some days seemed like winter with hail, sleet and snow"

Snow - isn't it pretty?

Snow on the courtyard fence.

More snow coming.

"Other days, it would be nice and sunny, in fact, the weather was so nice it seemed like summer, without the pesky mosquitos and gnats around"

Pretty Cliff with patches of melting snow at base.

The deer are out looking for something to eat.

Turkey vulture sitting on cattle ranchers fence.

"Jade an I spent most of the winter hanging in the bedroom with momma"

Jade climbed in bed with me, and I was really nice and let her stay

"Daddy put up a small green house, but he is having problems getting things to grow.  I don't know why he doesn't put some tasty chickens in there.  I'll take care of them, he wouldn't have to do a thing, except maybe pick up feathers"

The roof is being replaced because it became brittle and the hail broke most of the panels.

"Our garden in the courtyard got murdered by mother nature.  Apparently she doesn't like tomatoes or hot peppers.  No sooner did momma get the veggies planted, mother nature sent snow.  Plants weren't happy and died"

Dead tomato plant.

"Mei-Ling, I looked and looked, but couldn't find the bully stick"

"I bet Simba took it, because he saw me drop it on the rug.  Let's go ask him"

Simba Blue, our kitty brother

"We better not wake him up.  He might get cranky and swipe with his paws"

"Okay, then let's go watch daddy repair the green house.  Maybe he will have some cookies in his pocket"

And, off they went...

The end

Third times a charm 08/29/16

Hi friends, Mei-Ling and Jade here...

This is our third attempt to update our blog.  Normally, momma helps us do our blog using the computer.  The last three times, she had us use her Samsung Galaxy tablet.  For some reason, the menu bar had been missing, so we were not able to add captions to the photos, couldn't change the photo sizes, and even worse, we were unable to publish our page.

I'm  going to stop complaining now because apparently MOMMA didn't know what she was doing.

Now, onto more important things:  Ms. Donna, our thoughts and prayers are with you.  Please get better soon.  Demon Flash Bandit, Angel Zoom Smokey, the rest of your family and friends love you much and hope for your recovery.

And, speaking of Damion Flash Bandit, we received a couple of his Presidential bumper stickers.  Jade took them outside and put one on momma's car and the other one on daddy's truck.  You have our vote big dog.

Daddy is going to be very surprised when he see this.

Momma is proud to support Demon in his Presidential bid.

Time has really been flying by.  I am now two years old, and my little fursister Jade is one, can you belive that?  I'm the mellow pup, while as Jade is the trouble maker.  She has been told numerous times to stop bothering our elderly kitty brother Simba, but refuses to leave him alone.

Here I am...

And here is Jade...

This is Simba - he is 16 or 17 years old.

We need to welcome Kinley and Brinley to their new home.  Your new big fursister Finley will teach you everything that she knows.  We have to agree with Hershey when he said that the pups won the Lotto on getting a great home.  Congratulations girls, we are looking forward to watching you grow up.

We had a very scarry summer.  We live in a rural community among lots of tall pine, pinon and cypress tress.  Due to the on going droughts that we have had, some of our lakes have disappeared, trees died due to the lack of water, so the humans were told strict fire prevention were in place to preserve the community and surrounding areas.  Not long afterwards, a fire occurred less than two miles from our home.  Luckily, it was noticed and put out right away.  About one month later, there was another fire, also about two miles away, but in a different location, and this fire was much bigger.  There were multiple fire departments working to put the fire out.  After battling the second fire for hours, it was finally extinguished.  Everyone here dodged the bullet this time around.  We got lucky.  Many humans have not been as fortunate as we were.

Yup, that's a lot of trees....

Anyhoodle, that's enough for tonight, let's see if momma can get this published.  Keep your paws crossed...

Hugs and kisses, Mei-Ling and Jade

This is what has been going on....

Hi everyone, Mei-Ling and Jade here,

We haven't had our blog updated in months!  Time is just flying by.  I will be turning two years old on June 10th, and Jade will turn 1 on July 27th, can you believe that?  My little fursister and I get along great.  Her personality is quite different than mine though.  I am calm and mello.  Jade on the other hand, always seems to get in trouble.  Just today, Jade destroyed one of momma's Iris plants that was just opening up.  Now, it is in a zillion pieces because Jade thought it would be fun to rip it apart.  I tried and tried to tell her to leave the flower alone, but she wouldn't listen.  When she was done with the Iris, she moved on to some other plants.  Momma had to put up fencing around several of the planters to keep Jade from doing more damage.

As some of you might have noticed, we didn't get to post any of our pretty photos here.  There were over 3,000 photos in momma's computer, but the software program got messed up and refused to let momma have access to any of them.  Luckily, momma found a computer expert who could trouble shoot her computer remotely and was able to fix the problem.  Once momma could access the photos, momma immediately moved them all onto thumb drives so if the computer messes up again, at least the photos will be safe.

Daddy has been busy reassembling the greenhouse he put up last year.  We had some real strong wind storms come our way, and every panel, plus some of the framing got ripped out.  Daddy discovered that two of the larger panels have disappeared.  There isn't anyplace locally where he can purchase replacement panels from so he had to order them through the internet.   The shipping costs were more than the panels were, can you believe that?

Momma hasn't been doing much of anything.  She tried to make a doctors appointment, but her doctor was out sick, so she ended up having to see someone else.  This doctor ordered a full set of blood tests and discovered momma's red blood count was dangerously low.  It was so low, that momma had to be rushed to the hospital for a blood trasfusion.  She was admitted to the hospital and received three units of blood.  Now momma has to get a bunch of testing done to figure out what is going on with her.   At least now, we understand why momma was so tired all the time.

We hope all is well with our pals.  We are still in shock about beautiful Whitley 's passing.  She is going to be missed by all of her friends and family...

Love to you all!

Big girl surgery 01/30/16

Hello, hello!  Mei-Ling here.

My little fursister Jade had her big girl surgery done on Thursday.  Our regular vet couldn't get her in until February 18th.  Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but we are expecting a series of storms coming through, thus, our roads will become dangerous and mucky.  Daddy found a vet in Grants that could take her the next day, so that worked well.

So, Thursday morning, we got up super early and headed off to Grants.  I had to get a booster shot, while Jade was getting spayed and microchipped.  I'm happy to report that everything went well.  This vet office was a very tiny place and didn't do things quite as my vet does.  Jade did not get the tiny incision on her side, instead, the vet made the larger incision in the middle of her belly.  The humans were told it was a good thing the surgery was done that way because her uterus was quite large.  Also, once the surgery was completed, the vet tattooed a heart on her tummy which is supposed to indicate that she has been spayed.

I am so jealous!  I didn't get a tattoo after I had my big girl surgery....

Jade's first snow 11/12/15

Hi pals, Mei-Ling and Jade here,

Hey Mei-Ling, what's this stuff all over our fake grass?

Can I eat it?

Mei-Ling. its falling from the sky...

Don't be scared Jade, it's snow...

Mei-Ling, I'm cold...

Me and my big mouth, but you got to admit, I rock in this coat.

I need to tell you a little something about my fursister Jade, she thinks she owns everything in the house.  She has very sharp teeth and likes to bit my legs and she even bit momma on the lip and made it bleed.  It's not that she is mean, as she is just a baby, but that biting stuff has to stop.

Hi there 10/08/15

Hi everyone, Mei-Ling here.

I officially have a little fursister.   Her name is Arizona Empress Yi-Tan Jade.  She has been here almost two weeks now.  Do you want to see some pictures of her?

Here she is out in our courtyard - 10 weeks old.

She looks kind of grumpy, but she is really very happy.

She loves to garden.

I was telling her that she better get out of momma's garden, but she wouldn't listen.  Don't you think she looks like a little rodent here?

She better get that stuff out of her mouth or momma will figure out she has been in her garden.

I've been real good and sharing the stuffies with her.  In fact, I had this stuffie and she took it away from me.  She even takes all of my cookies, can you believe that?

Look how tired she looks.  We had been playing all morning long and she is worn out - THANK GOODNESS!

My fursister is tired.  She needs a nice nap.

Okay, maybe we both need a nap.

Having a little fursister is kind of fun, but I really wish she wouldn't take all of my cookies and stuffies.

On another note, we continue to have Internet problems.  Daddy doesn't know why we are always out of internet time, but when that happens, all we can do is wait for our allotment to be renewed.  Until that happens, we can't post anything, that is why we haven't been blogging much.  Pretty pitiful if you ask me...

OMG - Tell me it isn't true

Hi pals,  Coco Rose here,

Sometimes things happen and there aren't any explanations for.  My good friend Ebby came to the Rainbow Bridge to be with her sisters Winkles and Ceeley.  I have always had a rival with Ebby because she liked to take MY cookies whenever she was at one of the wonderful parties that Puffy and I used to throw.

"Hey Ebby!  Get away from MY cookies!!!  Oh, sorry, as I was saying Ebby is now an Angel and she is once again trying to take MY cookies".

Ms. Lulu, my momma is crying for your losses.  You have had your share of heartaches;  First Wrinkles a few years ago and Pawpa, then right before Puffy came to join me, sweet Ceeley showed up at the heavenly gates.  Now Ebby.  Please find comfort in knowing that you have given all of your furchildren a wonderful home with much adventures, cookies and most of all love.  Their Pawpa was waiting for them as they crossed into the most wonderful kingdom.  Of course I came with a welcoming basket of cookies and Ebby wanted to know why my secret pockets were bugling out and the basket was almost empty - Sheesh, she was implying that I took some of her cookies, can you believe it"?

Ms. Lulu, please accept my sincere condolences, but I feel that Ceeley and Ebby were so close, that they didn't want to be without one another.  I know it hurts having lost many that you love so close together, but please find comfort in knowing that your furbabies are once again together along with their beloved Pawpa.

Look at Ebby's beautiful smile.  It's hard to believe she is gone.

Ceeley always took time to stop and smell the flowers.

BIG sister Wrinkles was at the pearly gate with Pawpa waiting for Ceeley and Ebby.

My job here is done

Hi pals, Puff Darby here.

As many of my pals know, I was real sad when my fursister Coco Rose, left and went to the Rainbow Bridge.  Even though Coco was a bossy pup, and sometimes yapped in my face, I adored her and followed her around when we were outside, going on another adventure together.  To help me get out of my depression, the humans brought home a tiny Shih Tzu puppy mamed Mei-Ling.  After the first week of trying to avoid her, I could see that she needed me, as much as I needed Coco.

I made it my mission to show her what she could, and couldn't do around the house.  This new little fursister heard momma telling me that it would be nice if I would share my small stash of stuffies with her, so I did.  Mei-Ling has been here for over over year, and I feel my job as her personal teacher, has come to an end.

Tomorrow, I am going on an adventure that Mei-Ling will not be invited to go on.  I have tried my hardest to ignore Coco calling me, but, I can not ignore it any longer.  I will be departing this world at approximately 8:30AM.  I have packed some of my favorite stuffies to take with me, verified I have my one way ticket, and am ready to go.  Momma understands and although she will be very sad without me, it will be nice to be healthy and able to run and walk again.

The humans have been looking for months to find Mei-Ling a younger companion, as my body had worn down to the point where I could barely walk, yet alone play with Mei-Ling.   It just so happened that the breeder the humans got Mei-Ling from, currently has a chocolate Shih Tzu puppy, so momma and daddy are hoping they will be able to adopt her.  If they are successful, Yi-Tan, will join Mei-Ling around September 30th (notice momma is continuing  on with the Chinese names).  I forgot to mention that Yi-Tan is Mei-Ling's half sister.  Same daddy, but a different mother.

Anyhoodle, I would like to thank each and everyone of you for being my friend.  Now that Coco and I will be up in heaven together, we are going to find out what the rules are regarding PARTYING.  Yup, we are hoping to throw the biggest, and best party in the clouds.

Tasty 06/13/15

Hi pals - Mei-Ling here...

I got my very own BUSY bone, and boy was it TASTY!

Yummy...

I'm going to eat all of it...

The only problem with Busy Bones is that I tend to get the crumbs stuck in my beautiful hair and you know what that means - Yes, I had to have a bath afterwards, but it was worth it!

And for those of you who are wondering, I didn't actually get to eat the whole thing because Puffy stole it from me and then preceded to gobble it down.

Birthday pressie? 06/12/15

Hi pals, Puffy here...

As many of you know, two days ago was my fursister Mei-Ling's first birthday.  She is a whole one year and two days old now.  Of course I've had to listen to her telling me how very special she is.  Anyhow, last night when we went outside to do our business before going to bed, momma just happened to come outside with us and she thought she saw something moving in our Crab Apple tree ring/planter.  Now remember, we live in rural Ramah, New Mexico, and we have bobcats, mountain lions, bears, deer, elk, badgers, lots and lots of prairie dogs, coyotes, and snakes.  In fact, our neighbor just found a Mojave rattler in her yard.  These are very poisonous, and not something you want to play with, or so momma says.

Anyhow, momma has been being extra careful when she lets us into the courtyard and when she saw something moving, she walked over to the tree ring and there was one baby bunny.  Yup, some momma bunny brought her baby over to visit with us (baby bunny was believed to be too young to have jumped into the tree ring on it's own).  It was only about 3 inches long and had a full coat of fun on it.

Mei-Ling was running around saying that it was her birthday pressie!  How come everything belongs to Mei-Ling all of a sudden?  Shesh, at least Coco and I had an agreement that I could have all the stuffies and she would get the cookies, but Mei-Ling has decided that she will not honor this agreement and will be claiming both stuffies and cookies as her own.

After momma seen the baby bunny, she made us go back into the house, then she got a slice of bread, crumbled it up and went back outside and put the food into the tree ring for the baby bunny.

This morning momma checked to see if the baby bunny was still in the tree ring and was surprised to find TWO baby bunnies in there!  That's right both Mei-Ling and I have our own baby bunny!

"What momma?"

"Puffy, I want you and Mei-Ling to leave those babies alone."

"But momma, aren't they for us?"

"Sorry Puffy, but they are wild animals and for some reason, momma bunny seemed to think the courtyard would be a nice place for her to hide her babies in."

"So, that means, the baby bunnies aren't for Mei-Ling or me?"

"That's right Puffy, now get back in the house and forget about those baby bunnies."

Here is the tree ring and our Crab Apple tree.  This picture was taken before the humans put in the fake grass in the courtyard or had the concrete sidewalk done.

Here is another photo of the tree ring and courtyard.  We love our fake grass!

Here is one of the baby bunnies.  This one was actually standing on top of another baby bunny that you can't see in this photo.

Update:  There are now THREE baby bunnies in the tree ring - can you see them?

What?

Hi pals,  Mei-Ling here...oh yeah, and Puffy too...

What's the problem?  My hair a little messy?  I just woke up...

After having my hair combed and my pony put back in, I once again look BEAUTIFUL!!!

Sure seems like a lot of work if you ask me...
